CELEBRATION OF WORLD SPACE WEEK -2012 WILL BE HELD AT ENAYETPUR, ON 5-6 OCTOBER.

 

World Space Week is a programme of the United Nations www.unoosa.org is celebrated on 4-10 October annually to create Space Awareness among the School Students around the world. It is coordinated by World Space Week Association www.worldspaceweek.org based in Houston, Texas. USA.

Since 2003, Bangladesh Astronomical Society www.bangastrosociety.org has been regularly celebrating World Space Week (WSW) and its main event is held at Enayetpur, a village which lies about 80 miles northwest of Dhaka. Enayetpur is globally known as the Space Village because highest numbers of Students, Teachers and Space Enthusiasts do participate here in the space related events than any other part in the world.

The celebration of World Space Week-2012 will be held in the premises of Mohakash Bhaban , the Space Museum, at Enayetpur on 5-6 October. It will be the 10th Anniversary of WSW in Bangladesh.

On Friday, 5 October, there will Space Art and Water Rocket Contests.

On Saturday, 6 October , there will be Street Rally , Space Debate, Space Quizz. Space Dance, Kid Astronauts Parade, Lectures and Prize Distributions. etc. In honour of Astronaut Neil Armstrong, The Man who first landed on the Moon, a discussion about his life and video on his Landing on the Moon with Apollo-11 Mission will be displayed .

About 30 schools with 2000 students and teachers are expected to attend the Celebration of World Space Week-2012 at Enayetpur.
