BANGLADESH CELEBRATES WORLD SPACE WEEK-2013

 

Space Art Contest on the Veranda of Enayetpur High School

World Space Week is a Programme of the United Nations, celebrated annually between 4 and 10 October aimed at creating Space Awareness among the School Students around the World. It is coordinated by World Space Week Association based in Houston, USA. Since 2003, Bangladesh Astronomical Society has been regularly celebrating the World Space Week and its main Event is held at Enayetpur, Sirajganj a village which lies about 80 miles northwest of Dhaka. different schools of the locality had participated in it. From 2004, Bangladesh Astronomical Society has been Celebrating World Space Week at Enayetpur and WSW-2013 will be the completion of 10th Anniversary of this Celebration at Enayetpur. The Celebration of World Space Week-2013 was held at Enayetpur on 7th October in the premises of Enayetpur High School. . At 10:00 11:00 Space Art Contest was held on the veranda of Enayetpur High School in which about 150 Students took part and drew pictures about Exploration of Space.

Simultaneously, Water Rocket Launch Contest was held on the Play Ground of Enayetpur High School in which about 25 Students had participated. On 11:30 a Spectacular Street Rally starting from North of Balur Math paraded over the street and converged the venue of the Concluding Session. Students and Teachers wearing Caps Badges and holding Placards of World Space Week 2013 in their hand, chanted slogans. A few young students carrying Models of Rocket strode in front of the Rally. the Concluding Session of World Space Week 2013 started. The Concluding Session was made with lots of events like Space Debate, Space Quizz, Space Dance, Kids Astronauts Parade etc in which students took part and felt them happy. Then there was another interesting event in which 6 Kids dressed with uniform of Space Shuttle Astronauts, paraded on the Stage for a few minutes so nicely that audience burst into laughers for their excellent performances. Sarker, General Sectary of Bangladesh Astronomical Society and National Coordination in Bangladesh for World Space Week Association; Mrs. Hasina Rahman Sarker, Space Education Enthusiast; Dr. Hossain Reza, Former Principal of Khwaja Younus Ali Medical College; Prof. Lokendranath Gosh, Principal of KYAMCH Laboratory School and College; Mr. Abdul Kader, Head Master of Enayetpur High School; Mowlana Abdul Awal, Head Master of Meherunnesa Girls High School; Mr. Wahidozzaman Wahid, Principal of ICL School, Mr. Bacchu Khan and Mr. Saidul Islam eminent
