World Space Week is an International Celebration of science and technology, and their contribution to the betterment of the human condition. The United Nations General Assembly declared in 1999 that World Space Week will be held each year from October 4-10. World Space Week consists of Space Education and outreach events held by space agencies, aerospace companies, schools, planetaria, museums, and astronomy clubs around the world in a common timeframe.

Since 2003, Bangladesh Astronomical Society has been regularly celebrating the World Space Week in Bangladesh and since 2004 its main Event is held at Enayetpur, Sirajganj a village which lies about 80 miles northwest of Dhaka. “Celebration of World Space Week-2016” was held on Wednesday, 5 October at the premises of Mohakash Bhaban, Enayetpur. WSW-2016 was the completion of 13th Anniversary of Celebration of World Space Week at Enayetpur.

over the streets of Enayetpur and converged in the venue of the Concluding Session. Students and Teachers wearing Caps, Badges and holding Placards of World Space Week – 2016 in their hands, chanted slogans.

At 11:00 – 11:45 Space Art Contest was held in the lawn of Mohakash Bhaban in which about 100 students took part and drew pictures on their imagination about “My Dream Planet”. Simultaneously Water Rocket Launch Contest was held on Spur of River Jamuna in which about 35 Students had participated and Launched Water Rockets.

The concluding session of the WSW-2016 was held in the premises of Mohakash Bhaban in which about 2,000 students with teachers and Space enthusiasts had taken part. The programme continued from 11:00 to 16:00. The Concluding Session was made with lots of events like Space Debate, Space Lecture, Space Quiz and Space Dance in which students took part and felt them happy.

There was another interesting event in which 5 Kids dressed with uniform of Space Shuttle Astronauts, paraded on the Stage for a few minutes so nicely that audience burst into laughers for their excellent performances. At the end, successful

contestants were awarded Prizes.

12 students from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) of BRAC University came to participate in Celebration of World Space Week -2016. They were astonished to see such a huge numbers of participants in different events of this celebration. They brought some Badges from BRAC University Dhaka and awarded to the winning contestants in different events.

their exceptional contributions in organizing Celebration of World Space Week in Enayetpur, Bangladesh since 2004. This year the two recipients of this Awards are Mr. Wahidozzaman Wahid and Mr. Mosharrof Hossain Khan.
